Hello everyone, At the end of this summer, we plan to start shipping robots with [ROS Noetic](http://wiki.ros.org/noetic) and [Ubuntu 20.04](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_version_history#2004) preinstalled. We’re moving to ROS Noetic for a number of reasons, including the following: - [Python 3 support](http://wiki.ros.org/UsingPython3) - [ROS Noetic was released a year ago and is now the officially recommended distribution](http://wiki.ros.org/Distributions) - ROS Noetic and Ubuntu 20.04 are [long-term support (LTS)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-term_support) releases with support until 2025 - [ROS Noetic is the last official ROS 1 release](https://www.openrobotics.org/blog/2020/5/23/noetic-ninjemys-the-last-official-ros-1-release) - Ubuntu 20.04 will simplify trying out [ROS 2 and MoveIt 2 capabilities](https://picknik.ai/ros/picknik/hello%20robot/2021/04/22/hello-robot-announcement.html) as they become available For the adventurous among you, feel free to try out our [ROS Noetic development branch](https://github.com/hello-robot/stretch_ros/tree/dev/noetic). We’re beginning to move to it internally and plan to focus on it for ROS 1 related software development. If you have any questions or thoughts about this topic, please reply.
